  91. scrolling note-taker sitting on your desktop.

  93. WinJottr can be anything from a simple scratch pad that you erase when
  94. you're done to a running journal which is saved to a file once a month
  95. and kept as a log.

  97. It can be started when needed (it will always reappear where it was
  98. last, with the last file saved loaded for editing) - or left in an
  99. inconspicuous corner of the screen on a constant basis (this is how I
  100. use WinJottr).  WinJottr's AlwaysOnTop option, along with the automatic

  153. IMPORTANT: WinJottr is a Microsoft Visual Basic program and requires
  154. that the file VBRUN300.DLL be in the /WINDOWS/SYSTEM directory (or
  155. elsewhere on the path) of your computer.  This file is widely available
  156. and hence, because of its very large size, is not distributed with
  157. WinJottr as part of the JOTTR_10.ZIP or JOTTR.ZIP archive.  It is
  158. available on CompuServe in the WinShare Forum, Library 1 as VBRUN3.ZIP.
  159. It is also available from virtually every other bulletin board and
  160. catalog operation in the world.  Do not proceed with the installation of
  161. WinJottr until you have verified that this file is in your
  162. /WINDOWS/SYSTEM directory OR the file VBRUN300.DL_ is located in the
  163. same directory as OWSETUP.EXE and JOTTR_10.ZIP (this will be the case if
  164. you are installing from a disk received directly from Open Windows)!!

  168. To install WinJottr 1.0 from a floppy disk received from Open Windows:

  170. 1.  While in Windows, insert the floppy disk in the drive.

  172. 2.  Open File Manager and select the floppy disk.

  174. 3.  Double click on the file OWSETUP.EXE to run it.

  176. 4.  Follow the on-screen directions.

  180. To install WinJottr 1.0 starting with only a copy of JOTTR_10.ZIP
  181. (JOTTR.ZIP  if obtained from CompuServe):

  183. 1.  Create a temporary directory (C:\WJTR will do) on your hard drive.

  185. 2.  Copy JOTTR_10.ZIP to this directory.

  187. 3.  Unzip the file using PKUnZip or other "UNZIPper".  This should
  188. produce the files listed in the packing list above.

  190. 4.  Run SETUPWJ.EXE from Windows.  This will take you through the
  191. procedure of installing WinJottr on your hard disk.

  193. 5.  You may delete all of the files in the temporary directory from your
  194. hard drive after completing the installation process, but remember to
  195. save a copy of JOTTR_10.ZIP on a floppy for friends who may wish to try
  196. WinJottr.

  201. A registered user of any Open Windows program is entitled to a full
  202. refund of their registration fee if they are not satisfied with the
  203. program they have registered. Send a letter to Open Windows requesting a
  204. refund (we'd like to hear why, but that's not a requirement) and stating
  205. that you will discontinue all use of the program upon receipt of your
  206. refund.  It's as simple as that - no questions asked.

  211. WinJottr v1.0 is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge to
  212. the user for evaluation. Feel free to share it with your friends, but
  213. please give them the original JOTTR_10.ZIP (or JOTTR.ZIP if obtained
  214. originally from CompuServe) file so that they will have all of the
  215. necessary support files. The essence of "user-supported" software is to
  216. provide personal computer users with quality software without high
  217. prices, and yet to provide incentive for programmers to continue to
  218. develop new products.  If you find this program useful and continue to
  219. use WinJottr v1.0 after the 30-day trial period, you must make a
  220. registration payment of $9.95 plus $3.00 S&H to Open Windows.  The
  221. registration fee will license one copy for use on any one computer at
  222. any one time.  You must treat this software just like a book.  An
  223. example is that this software may be used by any number of people and
  224. may be freely installed on multiple computers, so long as there is no
  225. possibility of it being used at one location while it's being used at
